Cindy Wolverton

Cindy Wolverton retired in 2020 from the U.S. Navy Band in Washington, D.C., after serving 20 years as clarinetist and bass clarinetist. During her career she played thousands of performances including twenty national concert tours, five inaugural parades, three state funerals, international travel to Norway, Quebec, and the Virgin Islands, and many funerals at Arlington National Cemetery.

A native of Norcross, Georgia, Cindy earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Music from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of North Texas. Her teachers include R. Douglas Graham, Bruce Dinkins, Wilbur Moreland, and James Gillespie. From 2003-2020 she was second clarinetist with the McLean (VA) Orchestra. In her retirement, Cindy works from home as a freelance proofreader.
