Kyle Pompei – Horn

Kyle Pompei

Kyle holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he graduated magna cum laude. He was a Stamps Scholar and Stamps Scholar Student Board Representative for the Madison campus. He also holds a Master of Music degree in Horn Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Kyle also attended the Preparatory Program for the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.

As a Howard County native, Kyle is excited to be a core member the Maryland Winds. Other groups he has performed with include the Columbia Orchestra, Greenspring Valley Orchestra, Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra, Golden Gate Symphony, Korea Young Dream Orchestra, and Hopebox Charity Youth Orchestra. He performed in the world premiere of Philip Glass’ Music with Changing Parts: Expanded Edition 2018 with the Philip Glass Ensemble in Carnegie Hall, New York City, and Davies Hall, San Francisco. He has been a member of the Burbank Chamber Music Society and the SFCM Music To Go/Community Service Outreach Program.

Kyle greatly enjoys being able to work with students and educators throughout Howard County. Currently, he is the resident horn coach for the Howard County High School Gifted and Talented Orchestras. He also teaches privately at the Music & Arts in Ellicott City, as well as his own horn studio in Laurel. Kyle was the winds and brass sectionals director for the Howard County Gifted and Talented Middle School Chamber Orchestra in 2019. He was also a teaching artist for the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-College from 2017 to 2018, as well as a camp counselor and peer mentor for the Honors Orchestra Program at the Pine Mountain Music Festival in 2015.
