Carl Long

Over the course of a 27-year career with the United States Air Force Band, clarinetist Carl Long served as Principal Clarinet of the United States Air Force Concert Band and Symphony Orchestra performing before five U.S. Presidents and for audiences in the Washington DC area, 49 of the 50 States, Europe and Russia. Carl has appeared in recital throughout the DC area and as a featured soloist on tour and at home with the USAF Band.

Also an accomplished conductor, he was Music Director of the Prince William Symphony Orchestra, leading this professional ensemble to critical acclaim for eleven seasons. Carl is currently principal clarinet of the Manassas Ballet Theater Orchestra, and the American Symphonic Winds where he has recorded music for Alfred, Belwin and Warner Bros. Publishers, Walt Disney, Seaworld, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Lines.

Carl lives in Bowie, Maryland with his wife Dawn—also a former principal clarinetist of the USAF Band and now a member of the US Navy Band—and their three cats: Taylor, Mya, and Mitsy-Mittens.
