Mark Brumbach – Euphonium

Mark Brumbach

Mark Brumbach is retired as the Director of Bands and Chairman of the Music Department at Oley Valley High School in Pennsylvania. Prior to teaching at Oley, he has held positions in the Antietam and Brandywine School Districts. His concert, marching and jazz bands have received numerous superior ratings and top awards in Pennsylvania and Virginia Festival competitions.

He received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Mansfield University. He has also done extensive graduate work in euphonium and trombone performance pedagogy at Arizona State University. Mark was a finalist for the President’s Own Marine Band, Washington D.C.

An avid performer of the euphonium and trombone, Mark has performed with Doc Severinsen, Dave Stahl, Keith Brion and the “New Sousa Band”, as well as his own tuba/euphonium jazz consort “Euphobia.” He has performed with the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra and the Phoenix Symphony. Currently, Mark is serving as a featured soloistwith the Ringgold Band of Reading PA for the past 20 years. He is also a member of the Lancaster British Brass Band. Mark co-directs and plays bass trombone in the Sounds of Sunnybrook Big Band. Mark Brumbach is an active freelance musicianplaying in many local brass ensembles and continues to be a private lesson teacherof euphonium, trombone and tuba. He has been a soloist and clinician at many high schools and colleges in Pennsylvania. Many of his students have attained District, Region and All State honors. Additionally, he has students playing in professional orchestras and ensembles throughout the nation.

Mark has studied with well-known teachers such as Dan Perantoni, Brian Bowman, Don Stanley, Stephen McEuen, Gail Wilson, Walter Gier and Dennis Frey. He is a member of PMEA, MENC, Kappa Kappa Psi, and the International Tuba and Euphonium Association.
